***St. Patric´s Day 2020/2021***

Den svatého Patrika v bilingvních třídách

I v distanční výuce se učíme o tradicích v anglicky mluvících zemích. Dnes jsme virtuálně navštívili Irsko a připomněli si Den svatého Patrika. Děti i vyučující se oblékli do zeleného, ozdobili se zelenými trojlístky a i aktivity v dnešní online výuce se vztahovaly k tomuto svátku.

Today, we celebrated St. Patrick's Day in our school. Who was this patron saint and what do you know about him?

We dressed in green and learnt much new information about St. Patrick. He was born in Britain, kidnapped and taken to Ireland as a slave. His main achievement was trying to convert pagan Ireland to Christianity. And what about the famous symbols associated with St. Patrick's Day? Firstly, the shamrock was meant to explain the Holy Trinity. Moreover, the colour of the shamrock and the reputation of Ireland as the Emerald Isle, finally led to wearing green on St. Patrick's Day. Secondly, leprechauns have existed in Irish folklore for centuries. It is said that wearing green makes you invisible to leprechauns, which like to pinch anyone they can see! So don't forget to wear green on St. Patrick's Day, i e. 17th March. :)
